8 Day Kaimana–Kaimana Liveaboard Itinerary Triton Bay • Aiduma • Dramai • Whale Sharks • Waterfalls Day 1 — Arrival in Kaimana & Karawawi Waterfall Guests are met at 0700 in the morning and we start proceedings with a welcome and safety briefing onboard as we set off on our adventure to the beautiful Karawawi Waterfall, a lush jungle oasis surrounded by towering limestone and cool freshwater pools. Later as the sun sets over the bay, the boat cruises gently toward the outer islands. No diving today — perfect for easing into the trip and preparing for the days ahead. Day 2 — Adi Island: Gentle Slopes & Macro Treasures (3 dives) Diving at Adi Island The first diving day begins at Adi Island, a relaxed environment ideal for building comfort with a check dive after which the real diving begins with sites offering a mis of topographies ranging from submerged pinnacles to long coral slopes, scattered bommies, and sandy patches create a calm underwater landscape filled with macro life. Leaf scorpionfish, ghost pipefish, nudibranchs, and juvenile sweetlips hide among the corals, while turtles and schools of fusiliers drift through the shallows. It’s wonderful introduction to the region and a photographer’s delight. Day 3 — 6 Aiduma/Dramai and Triton Bay: (3 or 4 dives per day) Diving in Aiduma Soft Coral Gardens & Dreamlike Reefs Aiduma showcases Triton Bay’s signature beauty: bommies wrapped in pastel soft corals, forests of black coral, and sea fans large enough to frame entire schools of fish. The topography is gentle and flowing, with rounded rock formations and sheltered bays glowing with color. Clouds of anthias swirl above the reefs, sweetlips hover in formation, and wobbegong sharks sometimes rest beneath ledges. Macro enthusiasts can hunt for pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish, and tiny crustaceans. It’s a warm, immersive start to the Triton Bay chapter. Diving it Triton Bay Bommies, Bays & Biodiversity The central Triton Bay area offers a rich mix of bommies, ridges, and calm bays. Sites like Little Komodo and David’s Rock pulse with life — fusiliers, surgeonfish, and snapper swirl around soft coral covered structures, creating a sense of constant motion. The water often carries a soft plankton haze that gives everything a glowing, atmospheric quality. In the quieter bays, divers slow down to explore macro habitats filled with shrimp gobies, juvenile fish, and unusual critters tucked into rubble and soft corals. This day blends big picture beauty with intimate detail. Diving in Dramai: Pinnacles, Current Energy & Schooling Fish Dramai shifts the mood toward dramatic underwater scenery. Steep pinnacles rise from deep water, wrapped in soft corals, sponges, and whip corals that thrive in the steady flow. These nutrient rich currents attract life in motion: trevallies hunting fusiliers, barracuda cruising in loose spirals, and dense schools of fish moving like a single organism. The topography is bold and sculptural — ridges, channels, and boulder formations that create natural amphitheatres for fish action. Between the high energy dives, sheltered sites offer calmer macro-opportunities. Day 7 — Whale Sharks at the Bagans (2 dives) At first light, the vessel approaches the traditional fishing platforms known as bagans, where whale sharks gather beneath the nets to feed on small fish. The water is typically calm and shallow, allowing long, relaxed encounters with these gentle giants. Their slow, graceful movements and curiosity create unforgettable moments — sometimes multiple sharks circling the bagan at once. After the main sessions, the surrounding reefs offer easy, shallow dives filled with soft corals and reef fish. It’s a magical, big animal highlight to close the diving portion of the trip. Day 8 — Return to Kaimana & Departure Enjoy a final breakfast on board as the vessel cruises into Kaimana Bay. Guests disembark mid morning for transfers to the airport or hotel. The crew waves farewell after an unforgettable week of waterfalls, whale sharks, and some of Indonesia’s most colourful reefs. Important Note: The final dive of the trip is completed on the penultimate day at approximately 12:00. Divers are advised to observe a minimum 24 hour surface interval before flying.
