Dive sites visited are at the discretion of the Captain and are weather dependent. Milne Bay Province diving extends far beyond the bay itself. With years of local knowledge, Captain Dan draws from an extensive network of dive sites across the province, selecting the best locations based on conditions and marine life activity. Diving takes place throughout Milne Bay and may include the spectacular reefs of East Cape, the renowned Tawali region, Nuakata Island, and the volcanic islands of Normanby and Fergusson to the north. To the southwest, the itinerary may also explore the pristine waters of China Strait, Samarai Island, and the reefs surrounding Basilaki Island. What makes Milne Bay truly exceptional is its incredible diversity. One dive may reveal manta rays soaring over cleaning stations or reef sharks cruising the reefs, while the next uncovers some of the world's finest muck diving. Add dramatic walls, colourful coral gardens, and thriving fish life, and every dive offers something completely different. Highlights may include: Muck Diving & Macro Hotspots: Sandy slopes and sheltered bays around Observation Point, Vandalu Island and the Tawali area are renowned for their incredible diversity of rare critters. Coral Reefs & Wall Diving: Spectacular hard and soft coral gardens, healthy reef systems and fish-filled walls at sites such as Deacon's Reef and Sponge Heaven Seamounts & Reef Structures: Dramatic underwater topography at sites like Wompass and Grant Island attracts schooling fish, reef sharks and abundant pelagic life. Home of the Giants: One of Papua New Guinea's best locations to encounter graceful reef manta rays visiting cleaning stations, surrounded by colourful reefs and excellent macro diving. The Black Jack B-17 Flying Fortress: Widely regarded as one of the world's finest aircraft wreck dives, this remarkably intact B-17 rests upright on a sandy seabed in exceptional visibility. At 48 metres, this advanced decompression dive is an unforgettable experience for suitably qualified divers, weather permitting.
