Day 1: Embarkation from 4:00pm, Vessel departs from Walindi Plantation Resort or Kavieng (depending on Itinerary) at approx 6:00pm Days 2-10: 3 to 5 dives per day, typically scheduled as follows * Note: For this itinerary there is more steaming than usual, which will result in a couple of days being shortened to 3 dives only. - Light Breakfast, briefing, Dive 1 - Full Breakfast, relax/interval, briefing, Dive 2 - Morning Tea, relax/interval, briefing, Dive 3 - Lunch, relax/interval, briefing, Dive 4 - Afternoon snack, briefing, evening Dive 5 (where possible on evenings where boat is not steaming) - Dinner Day 11: 2 morning dives only, lunch, vessel steams to port Day 12: Disembarkation up until 9:00am (to suit outward flights where applicable) This trip journeys between Walindi and Kavieng, visiting Kimbe Bay, Witu Islands, New Hanover and Dyaul Island. Dive sites selected are at the discretion of the Captain and are weather dependent. Because these great trips cover a lot of area we see quite a diversity of dive styles and critters. When we depart Walindi we dive the sea mounts in Kimbe Bay on the first day. That night we travels to Witu Islands ready to dive the next 2 days across a range of our best dive sites. We then travel overnight to Chapman's Reef at the top end of New Hanover, then to Dunung Island to dive the Japanese wreck "Sanko Maru" which was a mother ship for the Midget Submarine laying nearby. We spend a day or two diving the channels between New Hanover and New Ireland before heading to Dyaul Island for two days. We visit Albatross Passage for the last day and then finally head to port in Kavieng. Sites are generally visited in reverse order when departing from Kavieng. For the itinerary concluding at Walindi Plantation Resort/Kimbe Bay, there will be two dives in Kimbe Bay on the final dive day. Most of the dives we do are very ‘fishy’ with big schools of barracuda, jacks and the odd big tuna and groper. We also get some wonderful critters and lots of sea fans and soft corals. There are occasional sharks but they are not as plentiful as they used to be.
