This 11-day Forgotten Islands expedition sails from Maumere to Saumlaki, exploring some of Indonesia’s least-visited and most remote island groups, with up to 29 dives planned. After a relaxed embarkation day, the journey heads north through a rarely travelled region known for its sense of exploration and isolation. Diving takes place around Kawula, Alor, Wetar, Nyata, Kital, Nusleur, Terbang, and Teun Islands. Expect a wide variety of reef structures, from walls and slopes to open-ocean influenced reefs, with healthy coral growth, clear water, and abundant marine life. The diversity of landscapes and changing underwater scenery define this route. The final dives around Dai Island provide a calm and scenic conclusion to the trip, with unspoiled reefs and balanced ecosystems. The expedition ends in Saumlaki, offering a rewarding journey for divers seeking remote locations and a true off-the-beaten-path experience.

We meet you at the airport or your hotel and transfer you to the harbour. Once onboard, you settle into your cabin, set up your dive gear and join the welcome briefing. After everyone arrives, we begin our journey toward the forgotten islands. The rest of the day is for relaxing and getting familiar with the boat and crew. No dive on the first day

The second day is spent diving along the northern cape of Kawula Island, where reef slopes and walls drop into clear, open water. Healthy coral formations, excellent visibility, and abundant reef life create colorful and engaging dives, offering a strong start to the journey. Example dive sites: Bacatan Wall, Tanjung Dewi.

Day three explores the rich waters of Alor, known for dramatic underwater landscapes and exceptional marine diversity. Colorful reefs, impressive coral formations, and dense fish life provide engaging dives in one of eastern Indonesia’s most rewarding regions. Example dive sites: Babylon Wall, Pantar wall, Red Sand, Masjid.

A second day in Alor allows for deeper exploration of this outstanding region. Diverse reef structures, vibrant coral life, and plentiful fish action continue to deliver memorable dives, highlighting the richness and variety of Alor’s underwater world. Example dive sites: Ternate Wall, Karang H, Clown Valley.

Remote and seldom visited, Wetar Island feels far removed from regular dive routes. The day is marked by a sense of exploration, with dives unfolding along expansive reef systems influenced by open waters. Its isolation and scale make Wetar a striking and memorable stop in the itinerary. Example dive sites: Tanjung Tutunukae, Tanjung Reong.

Nyata Island offers a calmer rhythm, with dives taking place along sheltered reef areas and varied underwater topography. The scenery shifts between coral-covered slopes and shallower reef zones, creating enjoyable, unhurried dives before the journey continues northward. Example dive sites: The Arch, Nyata North, Nyata South corner.

Day seven explores the remote waters around Kital Island, where vibrant reefs and clear visibility create enjoyable and varied dives. Rich coral growth and abundant reef life make this a rewarding stop as the cruise continues toward its next destination. Example dive sites: Kital, Lompat, Coral garden, Telang Slope.

Set along a quiet stretch of islands, Nusleur and Terbang offer a sense of isolation and exploration. Diving here reveals contrasting reef profiles and changing underwater scenery, shaped by open-sea influence and natural channels between the islands. It is a day defined as much by the setting as by the dives themselves, adding character to the journey as the cruise moves onward. Example dive sites: Nusleur Wall, Terbang Utara, Terbang Selatan.

Rising from deep water, Teun Island presents a stark volcanic character both above and below the surface. Diving here reveals darker rock formations, contrasting textures, and pockets of reef life adapted to this dramatic environment, adding a bold and distinctive chapter to the itinerary. Example dive sites: Teun Slope, T1, Teun Wall.

The final day of diving takes place around Dai Island, bringing the underwater journey to a graceful close. Unspoiled reefs, clear water, and balanced reef ecosystems provide relaxed yet beautiful dives, allowing time to appreciate the richness of the region before the cruise concludes. Example dive sites: Red Manuk, Dai Wall.

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the beautiful Wellenreng and her crew. We’ll arrange your transfer to the airport or your hotel.
