This 11-day expedition links the Banda Sea with Raja Ampat, sailing from Ambon to Sorong with up to 29 dives planned. After embarkation and a check dive in Ambon Bay, the journey heads into the Banda Sea, setting the stage for a diverse and progressive diving adventure across two iconic regions. The Banda Sea portion includes Nusa Laut, Suanggi, the Banda Islands, Manuk, Hatta, and Koon Island. Expect pristine reefs, dramatic walls, volcanic landscapes, dense schooling fish, and wide-angle diving, with chances of encountering hammerhead sharks. A visit ashore at historic Banda Neira adds a cultural highlight to the underwater exploration. The second half of the trip focuses on Misool in southern Raja Ampat, diving world-class sites in Boo, Yellit, Fiabacet, and Daram. Rich soft corals, manta encounters, vibrant fish life, and colorful walls define the experience, before the journey concludes in Sorong after an exceptional cross-region expedition.

We meet you at the airport or your hotel and transfer you to the harbour. Once onboard, you settle into your cabin, set up your dive gear and join the welcome briefing. In the afternoon we will do a check dive in the bay of Ambon before starting our journey toward the Banda Sea.

On the second day of the cruise, diving around Nusa Laut sets an inspiring tone for the journey ahead. Pristine coral reefs, exceptional visibility, and abundant reef life combine to deliver beautiful, colorful dives, offering an early highlight of this Banda Sea. Example dive sites: Ameth drop off, Pulau Pombo, Molana Wall.

On the following day, diving at Suanggi offers a true open-ocean experience at this remote volcanic seamount. Dramatic underwater terrain, rich coral growth and dense fish life set the scene for powerful wide-angle dives. This is often the last chance for a hammerhead shark encounter, adding anticipation and excitement to these wild Banda Sea dives. Example dive sites: Jakpot, Suanggi south, Suanggi north wall.

On day four of the cruise, diving around the Banda Islands combines outstanding underwater exploration with a touch of history. Colorful reefs, clear water and abundant marine life offer beautiful dives, before going ashore to visit Fort Belgica, a remarkable heritage site overlooking Banda Neira and reflecting the region’s rich colonial past. Example dive sites: Pohon Miring, Batu Kapal Pinnacle, BK ridge.

On day five of the cruise, diving at Manuk offers a truly unique experience around this active volcanic island. Black sand slopes, bubbling fumaroles and nutrient-rich waters attract large schools of fish, hunting predators and an abundance of marine life. Expect dynamic dives with fantastic soft corals, dramatic scenery and a wild, unforgettable atmosphere. Example dive sites: Infinity, Bubble Reef, Coconut Ridge.

On day six of the cruise, diving at Hatta Island showcases the classic beauty of the Banda Sea. Vibrant coral reefs, crystal-clear water and lively fish populations create superb wide-angle dives. Rich reef life and schooling fish dominate the scene, and with some luck, hammerhead sharks may once again make a memorable appearance. Example dive sites: Tanjung Buton, Karang Hatta, Hole in the wall.

Situated between the Banda Sea and Raja Ampat, Koon Island marks a scenic transition between two iconic regions. Rich marine life and lively reefs offer rewarding dives, with schooling fish and vibrant underwater scenery, before continuing toward Raja Ampat. Example dive sites: Too Many Fishes.

A full day on Misool’s signature reefs. From Boo Windows to Yellit and Magic Mountain, these sites combine manta cleaning stations, ridges loaded with fish and long coral gardens with turtles and reef sharks. A night dive is planned. Example dive sites: Magic Mountain, Boo Window, Eagle’s Nest, Yellit Kecil,

Today we explore the Fiabacet chain, a stunning series of pinnacles connected by shallow ridges packed with soft corals. These sites often deliver busy fish action—trevallies, surgeonfish, turtles and swarms of anthias blanketing the slopes. The white sand sections attract wobbegongs and the deeper edges are home to dense gorgonian forests. Example dive sites: Tank Rock, Nudi Rock, Whale Rock.

On the last day, we will visit the remote Daram islands. These reefs are packed with soft corals, fans and dense fish life. Expect drifting along colourful walls with fusiliers, napoleons and blacktip reef sharks. Example dive sites: Andiamo, Warna Warni, Candy Store.

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the beautiful Wellenreng and her crew. We’ll arrange your transfer to the airport or your hotel.
