LEGENDARY WRECKS AND UNDERWATER WONDERS This innovative itinerary will delight shark lovers, dolphin enthusiasts, and those fascinated by stunning wrecks, coral reefs, and dramatic drop-offs bursting with colors. We will travel to the tip of Sinai before heading back to the Brothers Islands, famous for their spectacular drop-offs, strong currents, and encounters with large pelagics like hammerhead sharks and grey reef sharks. This itinerary is perfect for experienced divers, combining diverse marine life, wrecks, and exceptional reefs. Main dive sites 1- Sha’ab el Erg Level : Easy • Depth : 15m • Photo : Wide A beautiful horseshoe-shaped reef where dolphin schools frequently pass along the outer reef or in the lagoon. This site will be our location for the check dive. Dolphins can be observed either during diving or snorkeling. 2- DUNRAVEN (SHIPWRECK) Level : Easy • Depth : 30m • Photo : Wide This British ship, 80 meters long, sank in 1876 after hitting a reef near Sha’ab Mahmoud. Resting at a depth of 30 meters, the wreck is split into two parts, with its inverted hull covered in corals. Divers can explore its open holds, home to schools of surgeonfish, soldierfish, and moray eels. 3- Ras mohamed Level : Fac./Moy. • Depth : 40m • Photo : Macro/Wide A natural reserve located at the southern tip of Sinai, marking the final separation between the Gulf of Aqaba and the Gulf of Suez. The meeting of water masses from the two gulfs creates strong currents. Numerous pelagic species thrive on the dramatic drop-offs (schools of barracudas, snappers, etc.). We will dive at the southernmost point: «Shark Reef» and «Yolanda Reef,» the most extraordinary sites in the park. The dive is a drift dive. We will immerse at «Shark Reef,» with its steep wall descending to -800m! We will follow this vertical drop-off before ascending to the plateau toward «Yolanda Reef.» Coral formations are covered with soft corals and gorgonians. This magnificent area is inhabited by giant moray eels, napoleon wrasses, turtles, groupers, and a massive school of batfish. The dive ends on the remains of a Cypriot shipwreck that ran aground in 1980, giving the site its name (Yolanda). Only part of the cargo and debris remains, as the wreck slid further down the slope. The Yolanda was transporting bathroom fixtures, so you will see bathtubs and other sanitary items that have been colonized by marine life. 4/5- Thistlegorm Level : Medium • Depth : 30m • Photo : Wide This English cargo ship sank on October 6, 1941, after being bombed by German aviation while carrying ammunition and war supplies (trucks, cars, motorcycles, etc.). Divers can explore these artifacts, which remain preserved inside the wreck. This is one of the most famous wrecks in the world. 6- GUBAL ISLAND Level : Easy • Depth : 30m • Photo : Wide The shallow reefs offer exceptional visibility and host a diverse marine life. Divers can observe schools of colorful fish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, along with moray eels and rays. Coral formations are impressive, with a great variety of soft and hard corals. It may be possible to dive on the wreck of the Ulysses depending on the weather. 7- Le Carnatic (SHIPWRECK) Level : Easy • Depth : 20m • Photo : Macro / Wide A steamship 90 meters long, weighing 1,800 tons, that sank on this reef one night in 1869. It lies at depths of 18 to 24 meters. Its cargo of 32,000 pounds sterling in gold bullion was recovered, but 8,000 are still missing. The hull is covered with hard corals, multicolored soft corals, and sponges. Inside, countless «glassfish» mix with beautiful lionfish. 8- Le Ghiannis D (SHIPWRECK) Level : Easy • Depth : 20m • Photo : Macro / Wide A cargo ship 100 meters long, weighing 2,900 tons, sunk in 1983. It was transporting timber from Croatia to Yemen. BROTHERS Big Brother and Little Brother, the «Two Brothers,» are two remote islands in the open sea. Located off the coast of El Quseir, they are only accessible by liveaboard diving cruises. Separated by 800 meters, these islands are the emergent peaks of two massive underwater mountains plunging to depths of over 300 meters. They are frequently subjected to strong winds and powerful currents. Diving at the Brothers Islands is therefore reserved for experienced divers. Giant gorgonian forests and thriving coral formations make these islands a hotspot for the surrounding pelagic marine life. Divers will explore dramatic drop-offs, caves, and the wrecks of the Aida and Numidia. 9/10- The South Plateau of Big Brother Level : Med./Adv. • Depth : 40m • Photo : Macro / Wide The south plateau of Big Brother is one of the most spectacular dives in the Red Sea. This unique geological formation, located between 20 and 40 meters deep, serves as a true observatory for pelagic life. Characterized by vertical walls covered in colorful soft corals and giant gorgonians, this site is a major gathering point for large predators. Experienced divers can observe: • Grey reef sharks patrolling constantly • Oceanic whitetip sharks (longimanus) • Tuna and barracudas hunting • Eagle rays in formation The often-strong currents require excellent technical skills and effective air management. The plateau offers several dive options depending on conditions, with early morning dives being the best to maximize chances of pelagic encounters. This dive is reserved for Level 3 divers or equivalent, accustomed to offshore conditions and strong currents. 11- The NORTH Plateau of Big Brother Level : Med./Adv. • Depth : 40m • Photo : Macro / Wide We will descend to 35-40 meters above the north plateau, the best spot to observe grey reef sharks and hammerheads. It is even possible to encounter a manta ray or a sunfish (Mola mola). After exploring the plateau and deeper zones, we will follow the current to the western drop-off, teeming with life. This area features colorful soft corals, magnificent gorgonians, and an incredibly diverse fauna, including groupers and barracudas. This islet offers the opportunity to see an incredible variety of shark species: grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, silky sharks, hammerheads, thresher sharks, and, frequently near the surface, the one everyone hopes to spot—the oceanic whitetip shark. 12 – ABU KIFAN NORTH Level: Intermediate • Depth: 30m • Photo: WA Abu Kifan, located offshore from Safaga, is one of the Red Sea’s most iconic dive sites. This impressive reef combines a plateau at 20 metres with a dramatic drop-off plunging beyond 100 metres. It is renowned for its colourful corals and abundant marine life, including pelagic species such as barracudas, tunas and, at times, hammerhead sharks. Currents can be strong, attracting large fish but requiring solid diving experience. Accessible only by boat, Abu Kifan offers outstanding visibility and ideal conditions for seasoned divers. 13 – PANORAMA REEF NORTH Level: Intermediate • Depth: 20m • Photo: WA Panorama Reef North, located off Safaga, is one of the Red Sea’s most spectacular dive sites. This current-exposed area attracts dense and vibrant marine life. The steep wall drops vertically into the blue, covered with hard corals, sponges and magnificent gorgonians. Divers experience a true open-ocean atmosphere with remarkable visibility. Ideal for experienced divers seeking strong sensations and grand underwater scenery, Panorama North captivates with its energy, dramatic topography and rich, colourful ecosystem. 14 – PANORAMA REEF SOUTH Level: Intermediate • Depth: 20m • Photo: WA Panorama Reef South offers a more tranquil dive than its northern counterpart, with generally calm conditions and a serene atmosphere. Its gently sloping plateau, carpeted with soft and hard corals, shelters abundant marine life: butterflyfish, angelfish, wrasses and turtles are frequently encountered. Thanks to its natural light and exceptional visibility, the area is perfect for underwater photography. Suitable for all levels, Panorama South combines beauty, accessibility and diversity—an inviting, relaxing dive in a colourful reef that embodies the richness and calm of Safaga’s underwater world. 15 – TOBIA Level: Intermediate • Depth: 20m • Photo: WA Tobia is a cluster of small reefs forming one of the most enjoyable dive sites in the region. Often called the “Seven Pinnacles,” it is made up of coral towers separated by sandy corridors, offering a spectacular setting and a peaceful atmosphere. This shallow site is suitable for divers of all levels and teems with marine life: butterflyfish, clownfish, moray eels and rays thrive in crystal-clear water. Ideal for photography, Tobia enchants divers with its vibrant colours, calm surroundings and almost magical ambiance. 16 – RAS ABU SOMA Level: Intermediate • Depth: 20m • Photo: WA Ras Abu Soma, located south of Hurghada near Safaga, is renowned for its diverse underwater landscapes and exceptional biodiversity. The reef features a harmonious mix of drop-offs, plateaus and colourful coral gardens. Divers can observe a wide variety of tropical fish, soft and hard corals, and striking natural formations.
