Program Bali – Komodo – Flores – Maumere A Voyage Across the Lesser Sunda Islands DAY 1 – BALI After boarding Adelaar in Serangan Harbor, we cast off and glide north along Bali’s dramatic coastline. As the afternoon light softens, Mount Agung often reveals itself in majestic silhouette — a fitting prelude to the journey ahead. By nightfall, we cross the Lombok Strait and continue eastward along Lombok’s northern shores, setting course for Sumbawa. The yacht sails steadily through the night toward Moyo Island. DAY 2 – MOYO ISLAND (2–3 day dives) The expedition begins in the warm, clear waters surrounding Moyo Island. Offshore seamounts rise from the depths, their slopes adorned with healthy hard corals and vibrant reef fish life. Expect schooling fusiliers, trevallies, turtles and reef sharks in relaxed yet lively conditions. Between dives, guests may visit a traditional village or take a short inland excursion to Moyo’s freshwater waterfall, where a cool jungle pool offers a refreshing contrast to the sea. Overnight, Adelaar continues toward Teluk Saleh. DAY 3 – TELUK SALEH (2 day dives – whale shark encounters) The vast and sheltered waters of Teluk Saleh are home to a remarkable, year-round aggregation of whale sharks. Working closely with local fishermen and spotters, our team guides guests toward recent sightings. The morning is dedicated to in-water sessions with these gentle giants. Depending on conditions and personal preference, guests may choose between diving and snorkeling, allowing for multiple perspectives of these majestic animals. Encounters are conducted respectfully and unhurriedly, ensuring both safety and an exceptional experience. We plan two day dives in the area, conditions permitting. After the final session, Adelaar continues her journey eastward toward Sangeang, cruising through the afternoon and into the evening. DAY 4 – SANGEANG & BANTA (3 day dives, 1 night dive) Sangeang Volcano rises dramatically from the sea — an active reminder of the geological forces shaping this region. Below the surface, black sand slopes teem with macro treasures: frogfish, ghost pipefish, nudibranchs and other rare critters thrive in this nutrient-rich environment. At certain sites, streams of volcanic gas escape gently from the seabed, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. Banta offers a striking contrast. White sand substrates and robust hard coral formations host sea snakes, turtles, reef sharks, and occasionally eagle rays or manta rays. Wide-angle vistas dominate the day. A night dive reveals the reefs in a different light, when nocturnal species emerge. DAY 5 – SOUTH KOMODO NATIONAL PARK (3 day dives, 1 night dive) This day is dedicated to rays. At Manta Alley, often regarded as one of the finest manta sites in the world, we observe these graceful animals as they glide effortlessly through plankton-rich currents. In the evening, we search for their lesser-known relatives — torpedo rays — along sandy slopes illuminated by dive lights. South Komodo’s cooler waters support an impressive biomass and remarkable biodiversity. DAY 6 – SOUTH RINCA, KOMODO NATIONAL PARK (3 day dives, 1 night dive) South Rinca is a photographer’s paradise. Exceptionally healthy reefs shelter an abundance of rare and unusual critters alongside dramatic soft coral growth. The scenery above water is equally impressive — steep hills and rugged coastline frame secluded anchorages where the yacht rests peacefully between dives. DAY 7 – CENTRAL KOMODO NATIONAL PARK (2 day dives, 1 night dive) In the morning, we step ashore on Rinca Island for a ranger-guided walk in search of the Komodo dragon — the world’s largest lizard and a powerful symbol of this national park. Back in the water, Central Komodo delivers exhilarating action dives on coral-encrusted pinnacles and current-fed reefs. Dense schools of fish swirl around the formations, while reef sharks patrol the blue. An optional night dive concludes the day. DAY 8 – GILI LAWA, NORTH KOMODO NATIONAL PARK (3 day dives, 1 night dive) The northern reaches of Komodo are home to some of the archipelago’s most iconic dive sites. Seamounts rise from deep water, attracting sharks, giant trevallies and barracuda. Strong currents nourish vibrant coral growth and extraordinary fish density — true signature dives of the region. In the evening, a short climb to the Gili Lawa viewpoint rewards guests with panoramic vistas across the park — a spectacular sunset over rolling savannah hills and turquoise bays. DAY 9 – TATAWA ISLANDS (3 day dives) The reefs surrounding Tatawa are continuously fed by nutrient-rich currents, resulting in intense coral coloration and thriving marine life. These final dives within Komodo offer elegant drift profiles across slopes covered in soft corals and teeming with fish — a fitting farewell to the national park. DAY 10 – PALUE (2 day dives) North of Flores lies the volcanic island of Palue. Steep underwater walls draped in gorgonians and soft corals create dramatic vertical landscapes. With patience and keen observation, pygmy seahorses and rare nudibranch species may reveal themselves. After the morning dives, weather permitting, Adelaar may raise her sails for the final stretch toward Maumere — a serene and graceful conclusion to the voyage. DAY 11 – MAUMERE After a final breakfast on board, it is time to disembark in Maumere. Until next time... (The itinerary may vary depending on weather, sea conditions, and wildlife activity to ensure safety and the best possible experience).
